DON'T LET HOLIDAY DECORATIONS
SPARK TRAGEDY

Keep your family, friends, and home safe during the holidays by watching out for these sources of danger: LIVE FRESH TREES are less of a fire hazard (needles are hard to pull off and trunk should be sticky with resin) and ARTIFICIAL TREES should be marked “Fire Resistant”.  Keep both away from heat sources; LIGHTS should not have frayed wiring, broken sockets or loose connections.  Don’t plug in more than 3 strings into a single socket and remember to turn off all lights before going to bed or leaving the house; CANDLES should be placed in spots where they cannot be blown over or knocked over and holders should be non-flammable; and, SMOKE ALARMS should be tested for new batteries at this time of year before any decorations are added.

BEACH CLUB LENDING LIBRARY

Don’t forget that the Beach Club has a lending library.  There is no charge to borrow hardback and paperback books.  And, don’t forget that we take donations of used books.   Think of it as “re-gifting”.

LANDSCAPE ADVISORY GROUP

BUILDING FRONT AREA IMPROVEMENT ($2,000 Project): The Landscape Advisory Group (LAG) approved the amended plan for La Playa at its November 16th meeting.  A review at this meeting of the status of work at the remaining nine buildings revealed that, with a couple of minor exceptions, all of the planned and approved work has already been completed.

LA PERLA / BEACH CLUB WALKWAY PROJECT: Gradual changes are being implemented to minimize the existing landscape hodgepodge in this area.  This is being accomplished mainly by repositioning certain plants and removing others to the nursery behind Las Flores for later use elsewhere.  The aim of this work is to produce a cleaner look by limiting the number of plant species appearing at any one location.

ENTRYWAY TO THE CENTRAL COMPLEX: A sub-group is being organized to examine the island and surrounding area at the entryway to the central complex between La Perla and Las Flores.  As with the other projects that have been or are being addressed by the LAG, the aim of this activity will be to eliminate hodgepodge and facilitate maintenance.

WATER USAGE FOR LANDSCAPING: Studies of water usage at Coronado Shores (excluding individual buildings) have revealed that the highest demand for water is attributable to landscaping irrigation.  The LAG and the Conservation sub-committee of L&R continue to discuss this issue at their meetings.   It is being taken into consideration in the various landscaping improvements that have been or are being undertaken here at Coronado Shores.

FITNESS CENTER INTEREST GROUP

The Coronado Shores Fitness Center Interest Group continues to receive responses to the preliminary Survey that was distributed over the past several weeks to all owners.   To date, several hundred Surveys have been received and we expect to receive additional replies through the end of the year.  At the beginning of next year, we will have tabulated results and look forward to a discussion of various topics that were raised in the Survey.   We want to THANK all of you who have participated.  If you have not yet had the opportunity to fill out the Survey, you can find it online at: www.shoresfitness.com.  WISHING YOU HAPPY & HEALTHY HOLIDAYS!
