LANDSCAPE
ADVISORY GROUP
The last two months have been a busy and
productive time for landscaping activities. Bougainvillea
and Hibiscus have been planted at 84 fence locations to complete the perimeter. An irrigation system has been installed to ensure
proper watering. Flax and Bird of Paradise
have been planted at the NE corner facing Strand Highway.
Colorful Gaillardia flowers will be planted there to complete the upgrade. An upgrade project has been completed in a large
bed between Las Flores and La Princesa. Work
is near completion on a decorative planter near the South Entrance. A perennial floral design will be incorporated. A palm at this location has been transplanted to
the large bed noted above, and constitutes a significant component of that upgrade. A potential replacement tree for Australian Corals
has been identified for each specific location around the community, based on an approved
list. No Australian Corals will be removed and
replaced unless it is deemed absolutely necessary for reasons of safety to property or
persons, or disease. A sub-group has been
established to examine all aspects of the palm situation, long term. This is a sensitive subject and there will be no
immediate recommendations. All possible
options will be considered carefully, including doing nothing at all, taking the best
interests of the community as a whole into consideration.
A plan to systematically monitor landscaping has been established. Each member has been encouraged to note specific
maintenance issues on a standardized form, for the consideration and attention of the
L&R Manager at each monthly meeting of the group.
