LANDSCAPE
ADVISORY GROUP
Landscaping
improvements have recently been made to the South Campus entryway. Improvements will soon be made to the area between
Las Flores and La Princesa using a combination of miniature magnolias, palms, flax, and
ground cover. Design work for a Shores
perimeter landscaping upgrade has been completed. Use
will be made of the bougainvillea and hibiscus to add significant color along the
perimeter wall. A design upgrade for the
northeast corner of the Shores (del Sol) will incorporate birds of paradise, flax, and
gaillardia flowers. Work on installing these
upgrades is anticipated to begin in March. Two
new books have been acquired for use in future landscape planning. One on palms is published by the Southern
California Palm Society. The second addresses
designing landscapes with drought-resistant succulent plants. The location of all Australian Coral trees in the
complex has been mapped and a potential replacement ornamental shade tree will be selected
as a contingency specimen for each location. However,
no Coral tree will be removed unless it is deemed to be an imminent hazard to the
community.
HEALTH CLUB
A new rowing machine has been purchased and installed at the Health Club. New floor mats have been installed around the spas
in the locker rooms..
NEW FITNESS CENTER
The Coronado Shores Fitness Center Interest Group continues to refine information
and gather additional support for our intended future site.
Please join us at our next meeting on March 25 at 4:30 p.m. in the Underground.
TENNIS INTEREST GROUP
Unfortunately, due to a low number of players available to play in the round robin
tournament scheduled for February 14, the event was canceled. A determination will be made whether to try and
organize another round robin this Winter, or wait until next Summer when more players are
likely to be available.
Also, just a reminder that a ball machine is
available for use by Shores residents. For
safety reasons, players must attend a short training session before it can be reserved for
use. There is no charge to use the machine,
but players are requested to donate a can of new tennis balls each time they use the
machine. If you have been certified to use the
machine, call the Health Club at 435-2533 to reserve it.
If you would like to attend a training session, contact Mike Brennan at
522-0042. |
