NEW RULES FOR RESIDENT PROFESSIONALS

Coronado Shores’ recreational facilities are provided for the enjoyment of residents, and residents should not be expected to share the recreational facilities with residents who are tennis professionals or personal trainers and who are using the recreational facilities for commercial purposes to make a profit off non-resident clients. At the recommendation of the Recreation Advisory sub-Committee, the L&R Committee agreed and approved two new rules at their July 17 meeting. If you are, or know someone who is, a resident who is a Tennis Professional or Personal Trainer, please be aware of the following:

1)Tennis Professionals may only give lessons for compensation to other residents of Coronado Shores, defined as those who qualify for a photo ID card, and, the Tennis Professional must first register with the L&R Office by entering into a Use Agreement, signing a Release of Liability Waiver, and providing insurance; and

2) Fitness Trainers may only give sessions for compensation to other residents of Coronado Shores, defined as those who qualify for a photo ID card, and, the Fitness Trainer must first register with the L&R Office by entering into a Use Agreement, signing a Release of Liability Waiver, and providing insurance.

TENNIS INTEREST GROUP

As with all facilities at the Shores, the tennis courts get a good workout, especially early morning and evening. With the usual influx of summer friends, players are finding it easier to get partners for singles and doubles play. It is likely that new contacts are being made at round-robin events. See the notice on the front page for the August 2 event and call Mike Brennan at 522-0042 to sign up. Proposed improvements to the tennis courts in 2009 will be discussed at the social.

FITNESS CENTER INTEREST GROUP

The Coronado Shores Fitness Center Interest Group hosted a lively Happy Hour at the Beach Club on 7/21 that was extremely well attended. In exchange for delicious hors d’oeuvres, the group had the opportunity to share its plans and to listen to many exciting ideas from Shores residents. The Interest Group of ten was infused with the enthusiasm of their guests. Work on the survey and the animation is continuing. We welcome your involvement.

LANDSCAPE ADVISORY sub-COMMITTEE

Members of the Coronado Shores Landscape Advisory sub-Committee representing El Encanto, El Mirador, and El Camino, along with Don Smith and Don Bushell (Co-Chairs), Felicia Bell (Long Range Planning Leader), Glenn Welch (L&R General Manager), and Jim Vitale (L&R’s sub-contracted landscape maintenance service provider) met at 9:00am Friday morning 7/11 for a two-hour walk around of the South Area of the community (south of Avenida de las Arenas). The objective of the inspection tour was to examine the state of the landscaping in this area, to learn from Mr. Vitale which plants do well and which plants are not doing well in our local microclimates, and to prepare a recommended course of action aimed at improving the landscaping in this area. As a result of this exercise, a list of priorities for landscaping improvements has been prepared and is being submitted to the L&R Committee for its consideration. The intent is that it will serve as a guide for the remediation work that is to be carried out in this area during the months ahead.
