LANDSCAPE ADVISORY GROUP
The L&R
Committee is considering a list of trees recommended for
planting at
Coronado
Shores,
excluding palms - which will be addressed separately. In
view of concerns for safety and potential legal liabilities
for
Coronado
Shores
associated with the Australian Corals, it is being
recommended that over a period of time these trees be
considered for removal and replaced by appropriate
alternatives. Any decisions would be based on a
tree-by-tree assessment, but priority would be given to
removal of these trees based on the risk they pose. Details
concerning new plantings along the perimeter of the
community are being discussed and plans will be finalized
well before the optimal planting time in late Winter or
early Spring. A framework for carrying out needed work and
the manner in which the budgeted 2009 funding for landscape
remediation will be apportioned to each residential building
will be finalized at the January meeting.
TENNIS
INTEREST GROUP
The weather in
Coronado is such
a blessing that even though it’s January, there is no excuse
not to grab your racket and head for one of the eight courts
that we have at the Shores. The availability of partners
should increase too as we welcome our Winter players. It’s
always great to see old friends again and make new
acquaintances. Mark your calendars for February 14, as that
is the tentative date for our next round robin and social.
More details will be coming, but who could resist playing
the ultimate “love” game on Valentine’s Day?
Also,
thanks to the L&R Committee, funds have been budgeted to
resurface Courts 7 & 8 at the south end of the community.
Bids will be obtained soon to determine the cost of
proceeding with this project. Hopefully, work can begin
early in the year, although the weather will be an important
factor in deciding on an exact start date.
If you have any questions or comments about
tennis activities or the courts at the Shores, feel free to
contact Mike Brennan, Chair of the Tennis Interest Group, at

ROEDER
PAVILION UPGRADES
Mirrors
have been installed around and behind the bar at the Roeder
Pavilion. The mirrors were installed in an effort to bring
the feeling of water indoors and the effect is a definite
improvement. The reflection of the water in the mirrors is
noticeable as soon as you enter the Roeder Pavilion. Stop
by and see for yourself!
